fideAS® file private – at a glance

Selected the folders on your hard drive that are supposed to be protected.

All files stored in these folders will be encrypted automatically – i.e. invisibly for the user – and decrypted whenever needed

Only those who have the correct key and the corresponding password will be able to decrypt the encrypted files.

Access to encrypted files can be configured exclusively for one person, or – if desired – also for several people.

System requirements: Windows 2000, XP, Vista (32 Bit)


Installation and first start

Install the software by running the file Setup.exe and follow the instructions on the screen. After completing the installation, you will have to restart your computer.

At the first start, the software will automatically generate your key.


You will have to define a password for this key afterwards.


Use of fideAS® file private

After booting the computer, fideAS® file private will automatically run the password dialog, provided that you have selected the auto start option during the setup. Otherwise please start the software manually via the program menu. Enter your password when prompted to do so.


Afterwards fideAS® file private will work transparently in the background. You can use files and programs on your computer exactly the way you always do


Besides the different configuration options, the menu item “Configuration” will also provide you with a list of all protected folders.
